Going to Sleep
There was someone sobbing outside my house last night at 2:30 in the morning. Like, seriously, SOBBING. VERY LOUDLY. FOR 10 MINUTES. There was no yelling of 'help! au secours!' or anything so I didn't think it necessary to investigate. Still, it was rather singular.
Also, I just finished watching Daredevil and I realized that ALL FOUR of Daredevil's other senses were heightened when he was blinded. That's right, people, Matt Murdock has SUPERTASTE. Canonically. It says so right on his Marvel website (on the side where it lists 'Powers'). A small excerpt:
Now that's a superpower you don't hear about every day. I mean, what would the ramifications of supertaste be? Can he only comfortably eat really bland food? Is he like the Auditors in Terry Pratchett's Thief of Time - a taste of a cherry liqueur chocolate would overwhelm him to death? The Marvel website seems to imply not, but WHAT DO THEY KNOW. I bet they don't even have a taste scientist (tongue doctor?) on staff. That's just irresponsible, disseminating questionable scientific information to the young people of today. YOU KNOW WHO IS VERY UPSET ABOUT THIS.

So if you'll excuse him, Daredevil is going to go sob himself to sleep in my backyard. Again.

[Daredevil's] sense of taste is sharp enough to enable him to detect the number of grains of salt on a pretzel. (This is useful...how?)

Wasting Time
Okay, so we've got a DOUBLE FEATURE for our final day of Youtube movies: The Count of Monte Cristo and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Oh man, Alan Rickman is awesomely evil in Robin Hood (you know, besides being awesome in general).

Chillaxing. Is that word over? Yeah, it's probably over.
Elvis and Anabelle is kind of the movie that inspired my idea of collecting links to youtube movies. The internet is pretty much the only place you can see this movie, since it is not on dvd. Short plot summary: Young mortician kisses dead beauty queen back to life, romance and complications ensue (naturally, because he KISSED HER CORPSE WHAT THE HECK). Also, magical sunflowers. CRAZY. IT'S A SECRET
Okay, so the brother thought that Captain Blood was boring (WHATEVER). Maybe a Bollywood movie would be more congenial. This movie features what I like to call 'hand porn'. You'll know it when you see it.

Eating Cookies
Mmmm, cookies. Alright, so this week (brought to you by the letter Y) is a WEEK OF YOUTUBE MOVIES. That's right, this week and this week only we will be bringing you ONE strange/interesting/AWESOME movie link per day. Trust me friends, there is some weird and wild fun to be had in the deep, dank depths of the rabbit-hole that is Youtube.
Today, we start with CAPTAIN BLOOD, the swashbuckling 1935 classic starring Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland, and Basil Rathbone. (The gang would re-unite in 1938 for the mega-classic THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD, which I have seen times beyond counting.) Apparently, a Captain Blood remake (re-adaptation? it's based on a book) is in the works - but IN SPACE. Neato.
Anyway, I give you...CAPTAIN BLOOD!

Making Delicious Foods

So the other day I made noodle pudding, an excellent way to get rid of leftover pasta. (The recipe comes from Mark Bittman's Minimalist column for the New York Times.) It was good. But not awesome.

Martha Stewart's Snickerdoodles, on the other hand, are fabulous in a completely understated way. Mmmm, snickerdoodles.

Khaaaaaaaaning

As can be seen in this chart, "Google search results for "KH(Ax)N" for x=1 to 100," there's a real spike of "AAAAA"s around 40 and 50. That's a lot of reptitious typing! Also, you have to admire the bloody-minded preserverence of the folks over there at 97-100 "AAAAA"s. Also, RIP, Ricardo Montalban.

Feeling depressed because she forgot her laptop power cord at home
...and now she has to borrow other people's inferior computers. And she can't upload her sweet new photos to share with the world. Boo.
